DigiClerk seeks a sponsor for the Yachting Collection. The sponsor is most likely to be a business or organisation with an interest in reaching out across the maritime leisure sector.
Yachting Collection the beginning
The collection started with a request from David Harding, a yachting journalist and photographer. Practical Boat Owner, a yachting magazine, put out the request and DigiClerk responded. Mark Freeman, Co-Founder of DigiClerk, has a passion for all things leisure marine and realised that DigiClerk already had the platform for these records.
The records consisted of some 60 years worth of photos, reviews, tests, plans, price lists, sales brochures etc. They were stored in David Harding’s garage in Poole. Contained in a mixture of plastic and cardboard boxes they were transported back to Suffolk.
The paper records are being digitised to become an online treasure trove of information about the maritime leisure sector. Before digitising the records it is important to understand what records there are and, in this discovery process, the records are being identified, categorised and stored in airtight archive boxes.
We use a desk scanner for ease of use, image quality and speed of uploading but you could use a desk flatbed scanner or even a camera. The key is that subscribers can upload the records themselves.
The boat brands and models go from A to Z, large to small, massive to modest.
The collection will be the ‘go to’ source of information for anyone involved in the maritime leisure sector.
Progress
As at 25 May 2023 we have digitised and uploaded 2,176 records out of an estimated total of 100,000. You can see what records there are in the collection here and sort and filter them.
In the latest phase of development we have enabled the viewing of the records for subscribers.
Sponsor
DigiClerk seeks a sponsor for the Yachting Collection. This would suit a business or organisation that want to be associated with a unique online reference tool for the maritime leisure sector.
We are starting with the UK market but will expand globally as the interest and subscriptions grow.
DigiClerk is a UK based start-up business and will tailor the commercial relationship with the sponsor accordingly.
